Strip-shaped materials are welded together longitudinally with the electron beam in complete production lines with pre and post welding stations.
The main user of these strip welding machines was mainly the band-saw industry. Rectangular wires made of high-speed steel HSS are welded to spring steel support bands, making a finished material for band saws that has a higher wear resistance and better flexibility than bimetal or tri-metal bands. The higher welding speeds of up to 20 m/min and welding quality that can now be achieved on our electron beam strip welding machines, have made Steigerwald Strahltechnik into the market leader in the sector for EB-welded bi- and trimetal strips. Today our machines are used worldwide in the semiconductor industry for the production of current measuring resistors, so-called shunts.
